Miami Dolphins stranded in Dallas for 4 hours after minor plane accident

In a case of, “What else can go wrong for the Dolphins this offseason?” the Dolphins arrived back in South Florida about four hours late from their preseason game in Dallas after having a minor plane accident at the gate.

The Dolphins were supposed to leave Dallas around midnight central time, but the grounds crew backed the team plane into another plane, damaging the wing of the Dolphins’ plane. The entire team — about 70 players, plus the coaches and support staff — was forced to de-plane and wait for another ride.

No one was hurt in the accident, but the players obviously weren’t happy, although it should make for a fun segment on this Tuesday’s episode of “Hard Knocks.” They were supposed to get home around 3 or 4 a.m., but didn’t land in South Florida until 7:30 a.m.

“Been up for 24 hours. SMH,” linebacker Gary Guyton wrote on Twitter.

“Eight hour ordeal .. What a day #4thumbsdown,” Cameron Wake wrote.

Quarterback Matt Moore said it more succinctly: “Longest trip ever!”

The Dolphins lost 30-13 on Wednesday night to conclude just their third winless preseason in franchise history. The Dolphins scored just four touchdowns during the preseason.

Fortunately for the players, the Dolphins are off today. Unfortunately for 22 of them, they might be awoken later this morning by a phone call saying they have been cut. The Dolphins have until 9 p.m. tomorrow to pare the roster from 75 to 53 players, and the cuts may happen as soon as today.
